According to the organization's website, its stated mission is "to encourage and promote the creation, production, distribution and consumption of wholesome family entertainment". It screens movies for suitability for family viewing, and endorses acceptable ones with the Dove "Family-Approved" Seal.

Paws and Tales: The Animated Series 1-13 episodes (2008) and Paws and Tales: 'A Closer Look' (2006) and 'Seeing the Unseen' (2005) were all awarded the Dove Award; thus recognized as deemed family friendly and appropriate for all children and adults. It was awarded 5 out of 5, meaning it was awarded with the highest recognition.
